Sean-Thomas Harrell - Principal

Mr. Harrell joined The Charter High School for Law and Social Justice in April of 2016 as the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction and transitioned into the role of Head of School/Principal in October of 2016. His career began within the New York City Department of Education where he served in various instructional and operational capacities.  Before joining CHSLSJ, Mr. Harrell served as the co-director for a progressive high school, ADVANCE Teacher Development and Evaluation Specialist, and associate head of school.  

Mr. Harrell views a collaborative school environment as the key to creating successful teachers and scholars. He believes partnerships with parents and community partners are essential to enriching the experience at CHSLSJ.

During his free time, Mr. Harrell enjoys traveling and can be found taking cycling classes throughout the city.

Courtney N. Crawford - Assistant Principal
Ms. Crawford moved to New York City in the Fall of 2013 to join the staff at Brooklyn Ascend Charter School as the 3rd and 4th grade Dean of Students. She previously worked in the Washington D.C. area as a middle school visual arts teacher, an adult GED instructor and a high school government teacher. After having graduated (Cum Laude) from Virginia Union University, she completed her Master’s in Education at Strayer University. She then made a seamless transition from classroom teacher to educational leader. Crawford has worked as a Dean of Students for the past three years, notably serving as the Founding Dean for Brownsville Ascend Middle School. She is currently working as the Assistant Principal for the Charter High School for Law and Social Justice in the Bronx.
Arthur J. Mockabee - Founding Director of Operations

In this role, Arthur is charged with supporting all school-based operations in all non-instructional aspects of the school.  Mr. Mockabee is a New Jersey Native who came to The Charter High School for Law & Social Justice from the corporate world where he gathered management and operations skills in various sectors of the financial industry for Bank of America Corporation. Mr. Mockabee started his career in operation support for education with Uncommon School’s NORTHSTAR (Newark, NJ) and since then has found a passion for serving in the same underprivileged communities he grew up in.
